Hiring a luxury limousine can be a fantastic experience. Whether it is for that special event, such as a wedding or simply a way of making the right impression on business visitors, the limousine can make an ordinary day into an extra special and memorable occasion. It’s also a very practical and unsurprisingly cost-effective way of getting from A to B in the ultimate of luxury and without risking delays. If you think that’s debatable, you might want to try catching a taxi exactly when you need one! Most professional car service companies will be extremely flexible in terms of what they can do on your behalf. They will almost all go out of their way to try and deliver an exemplary service but they do also expect their clients to be responsible.

So, there may be a few things that a limousine company may decline to undertake on your behalf and it is worth being aware of these.

  • The carriage of goods. Your personal luggage and occasionally ancillary equipment are not going to be a problem. On the other hand, asking them to load up their vehicle with heavy and perhaps dirty items for delivery elsewhere might be more controversial. Note also that they may be insured for the carriage of people and their luggage but not commercial goods.
  • Taking their vehicle off-road. This is something that you can’t be easily defined and which will almost inevitably be up to the individual chauffeur. They may decline to take the vehicle off of a professionally tarmacked or surfaced road.
  • Transporting pets and other animals. Once again, the policy here may vary considerably between companies and individual chauffeurs. Some may permit a well-behaved dog or another animal if it is fully contained in some sort of carrying basket but they may decline to allow pets free access to the interior of the vehicle.
  • Eating and drinking in the vehicle. There may be some minor exceptions here, in the case of luxury car hire which comes with a bar included. However, many companies and their chauffeurs will refuse to allow the consumption of foodstuffs and alcohol inside the vehicle. So, whilst a glass of provided champagne might be acceptable, don’t expect to take in a six pack and some kebabs!
  • Closely linked to the above point, carrying inebriated passengers. The chauffeur may understandably refuse to allow access to the vehicle for anyone who is not in control of themselves due to the ill effects of alcohol or drugs. There may also refuse to carry passengers who are aggressive, offensive or abusive.
  • Extend your rental period into an open-ended situation. If you wish to hire a vehicle and have it at your disposal for a full day, most companies will be only too happy to oblige. However, if you rent a vehicle for half a day, you may have to accept that if you wish to extend the period it will be subject to the vehicle’s availability. If it is already committed to another engagement, it may not be available to you.

Of course, all of the above situations are extremely rare and luxury limousine hire remains an extremely popular way of providing transport for that special event or business occasion.
